More Suzuki Jimny stock confirmed for South Africa – new trim added

With the immense popularity of the Suzuki Jimny coupled with various complications that arose from the COVID-19 pandemic, initial stock was struggling to keep up with demand. Suzuki South Africa has now confirmed that more units are on the way thanks to an expanded production.

The additional units will be sourced from the brand’s Gurgaon plant in India which will use 100 per cent Japanese-sourced parts.

“When Japan announced that it will assemble the Jimny at its massive Gurgaon plant, we, our dealers and our customers sighed a collective sigh of relief.

“The Jimny has become extremely popular among both urban adventurers and overland enthusiasts, and demand has always outstripped supply. While we may not be able to satisfy demand in full every month, the new source will allow us to deliver units quicker and with greater flexibility,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa.

In addition to this consignment, a new GL trim has also been confirmed for the local Suzuki Jimny line-up. This model will be available with the manual and automatic transmission and will include comfort features such as electric windows, electrically adjustable mirrors, alloy wheels, a multifunction steering wheel and a four-year/60 000 km service plan.

Furthermore, a Suzuki Jimny Rhino Edition kit will be introduced with the first batch of Indian-sourced models. This includes special Rhino decals and a spare wheel cover together with a heritage grille, red Suzuki mudflaps and rain and wind detectors.

The fresh batch of Indian-built Suzuki Jimny models will arrive in South Africa by the first quarter of 2022.
