Another sandy adventure awaits the team in Vryburg
Red-Lined Motorsport, together with the Penta Motor Group heads to its penultimate South African Cross County appointment at the Vryburg 400 with a slimmed-down and revised two-car entry, as it continues to fettle it’s all-new Red-Lined REVO racer into competitive trim.
“We have had to make some changes to our line-up for the Vryburg event,” Red-Lined team principal Terence Marsh explained. “Our regular pro driver Conrad Rautenbach has international business commitments, while Dubai-based Thomas Bell is busy preparing for next week’s Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. With this in mind, we decided to spice things up even further and slot the increasingly impressive Eben Basson and Gerhard Schutte into our new REVO as we continue testing and developing our all new T1 race car.
“Eben and Gerhard took a most impressive win against some tough competition in their VK56 in the TIORC Stella regional a couple of weeks ago, and this together with their 7th overall at our previous National event made it an easy call to step them up to the REVO for Vryburg. “They will once again be joined by Philip Botha and Roelof Janse van Vuren in their Penta Motor Group Red-Lined VK56. “The ‘Penta boys’ aim to continue their incredible unbroken finishing streak as they build up to Dakar ‘23.”
“What a wonderful surprise, honour and privilege it is for Gerhard and I to be given the chance to race the all-new Red-Lined REVO in Vryburg this weekend!” Eben Basson admitted. “We consider this a major step up to the no-compromise custom Red-Lined FIA T1.1 class racer. “REVO has shown great pace to date and now after further testing and development we cannot wait to race it in Vryburg – we are counting the sleeps!”
Philip Botha and Roelof Janse van Vuren are not only keen to continue their incredible 100% finishing record since they took up cross country racing just over a year ago. They want to once again better their best-ever 12th overall against a crack international field in their Penta Motor Group Red-Lined VK56 this weekend. “It’s getting better and better for us as we make our way up the finishing order as our overall performance improves,” Philip pointed out. “Let’s see what Vryburg has in store. “Of course we also want to keep that perfect finishing record intact, so we can’t wait for the challenge that lies ahead!”
“Vryburg is always a great event with really challenging and varied terrain,” Terence Marsh concluded. “So we look forward to an exciting and action-packed weekend “We can’t wait to get the party started”
