Updated Suzuki Swift for South Africa – New pricing and details

The Suzuki Swift range has received a mid-life upgrade in the form of a new look and updated features.

“Suzuki designers have decided to retain the overall visual signature, with only minor refreshments to the Swift’s familiar face,” said the company.

As a result, the new model features chrome lines that divide the grille into two sections, a new mesh pattern on the grille, and front fog lights for the GL and GLX trims.

The entry-level GA model was also updated, and now has full-size wheel covers, electric windows, air conditioning, central locking, as well as rear parking sensors as standard.

The GL option gets the same features, but is further fitted with fog lamps, an audio system with USB and aux inputs, electronically-adjustable mirrors, and dual-tone colour schemes to set itself apart. The range-topping GLX is treated to all of the above – in addition to a reverse camera, climate control, keyless entry with a start/stop button, a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Safety & Security

“Inside the Swift, Suzuki has placed an emphasis on vehicle safety and security,” said the brand.

This consists of electronic stability control, front and passenger airbags, ABS with emergency brake assist, and electronic brake force distribution.

ISOFIX child seat anchor points, central locking, safety belts, and an immobiliser are also included. All the manual models will be fitted with hill hold assist, too, and the GA specification gets an extra storage area light and parcel shelf.

Performance

The Swift is fitted with Suzuki’s K12M engine, and sits on the HEARTECT platform.

Suzuki claims that this combination delivers class-leading efficiency and weight specifications.

The K12M motor is a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 61kW of power and 112Nm of torque. The combined fuel consumption is rated at 4.9l/100km.
